Socket & light switch replacement in Birmingham

This is the narrowest thing we offer, and deliberately so. Replacing a tired socket or switch with a like-for-like accessory is a small job. The electrical work Woody currently offers is deliberately limited to selected like-for-like replacements.

A like-for-like replacement means the same type of accessory going back into the same existing installation — a worn double socket swapped for a new double socket, a cracked switch replaced with the same kind of switch. Nothing about the circuit changes.

Every job is assessed first. If the existing installation is not in a suitable condition, or the replacement is not genuinely like-for-like, we will tell you and stop rather than carry on. If the work falls outside a straightforward like-for-like replacement, we'll explain that before proceeding and recommend using a suitably qualified electrician where appropriate.

If what you need turns out to be a new circuit, an additional socket, a consumer unit or anything involving alteration to the wiring, that is work for a suitably qualified electrician and we will say so.

What we do

Minor Electrical Replacements — jobs and starting prices

Starting prices are the realistic beginning of a job of this kind, not a fixed rate. Your quote is priced on what you actually describe.

Where we work

Across Birmingham and the surrounding area

Questions

About this kind of work

Can you add a new socket?
No. Adding a socket means altering a circuit, which is beyond like-for-like replacement. That is work for a suitably qualified electrician.
What does like-for-like actually mean?
The same kind of accessory going back into the existing installation, with no change to the circuit — for example a worn double socket replaced with a new double socket on the same back box.
What happens if you find something wrong?
If the existing installation isn't suitable for the replacement, we won't proceed with the work. We'll explain what we've found and, where appropriate, recommend that it is assessed by a suitably qualified electrician.
