Handyman services in Birmingham
Most people call a handyman because a list has built up: a wardrobe still in its box, a shelf that was never put up, a door handle that has been loose since spring. They may be small jobs individually, but they're still worth doing properly.
Flat pack furniture can take far longer than expected when you're doing it yourself. Wardrobes, chests of drawers, beds, desks and storage units built to the instructions, checked for square, and the packaging broken down and stacked neatly once it is finished. Where a unit is designed to be secured to a wall, we will fix it and tell you what it went into.
Shelving, mirrors, pictures and coat hooks all come down to the same thing: knowing what is behind the plaster before anything is drilled. Plasterboard, brick, block and dot-and-dab all take different fixings, and the wrong one is why shelves sag. We check first and use the fixing the wall actually needs.
General household repairs cover the small things that do not fit anywhere else — a sticking drawer, a loose handle, a bracket that has pulled away. If you have several small jobs, send them together and we'll tell you what can realistically be completed during the same visit.

Starting prices are the realistic beginning of a job of this kind, not a fixed rate. Your quote is priced on what you actually describe.

About this kind of work
- Can you assemble furniture I have already bought?
- Yes. Most flat pack assembly is furniture the customer has already had delivered. Tell us the make and model, or send a photo of the box, and we can usually price it before the visit.
- Will you break down the packaging?
- Yes. We can break down the boxes and stack the packaging neatly once the furniture is assembled.
- Can you hang something on a plasterboard wall?
- Usually, yes — it depends on the weight and what is behind the board. We check for studs and use fixings rated for the load. If a wall genuinely will not take what you want to hang, we will say so rather than fit it and hope.
